Our Patients Speak Out
“In May of 2008 our daughter, age 5, was diagnosed with scoliosis. She also has a genetic syndrome, called Prader Willi Syndrome(PWS), which causes her to have very low muscle tone and both cognitive and neurological delays. She had a 46 degree mid back curve on her right side and we were told she was beyond bracing and that we should prepare for her to have rod surgery. In doing so, they would have to put her under general anesthesia every 6 months so the doctors could perform surgery to lengthen the rods. This would need to occur for many years until she was done growing and then she would need to have her back fused. My husband and I said we would not do this until we had tried everything else available. It was during my research on the internet for non-surgical options that I found the C.L.E.A.R Institute and from there I found Dr. Scot Sorum in Bellevue. We began seeing Dr. Scot Sorum in November of 2008 and by then her curve had increased to 53 degrees. Since working with Dr. Scot, we have seen amazing results not just in the maintenance of her scoliosis without surgery, but in her increased energy, confidence and balance while walking and running. We are so grateful we did not decide to do the surgery and not look into other alternatives. Dr. Sorum is so good with our young daughter and we can't thank him and his team enough for all they have done. We continue to look forward to having him work with our daughter in an effort to give her a chance at a better life dealing with her scoliosis. Lauren-Age 5
